Hailing from the Great Lakes State of Michigan, Stephanie attended Michigan State University to major in Telecommunications with a minor in Film and always thought that she would someday win an Academy Award for Best Director. After realizing that becoming a famous director meant more boredom in a classroom, she dumped that dream in favor of fortune in the internet business. While the millions of dollars are still far from attainable, she loves working with computers, go figure.
From 2001 to 2006, Stephanie worked as a Technical Producer for HBO.com. There she learned pretty much everything she ever wanted to know about coding and corporate life. In the end, HBO.com was fun but still could not fulfill the creative drive she yearned for.
Then came knitting and everything changed. From knitting to blogging, Stephanie found great joy in combining both needle crafts and the web. Life then took a happy turn when she had a baby, quit her day job, and began dreaming of starting her own online knitting magazine. Popknits is the result of years of thinking, planning, and doing!

About the Site
Popknits is built and maintained solely by Stephanie, the editor, using Expression Engine. All HTML, CSS, and PHP are written by her as well. AJAX code is provided by MooTools. Images are hosted with Flickr. Site statistics are provided by Mint and Google Analytics. Site hosting is provided by Pair Networks.
All pattern, article, and advertising submissions are handled by Stephanie. Basically, she is a one-woman knitting-magazine machine. Thank goodness for nap times!
