Cubix

by Cassie Miller

Cubix (front zippered)

Cubix is a boxy cardigan with flared sleeves inspired by Mod clothing from the 1960’s. It is worked in a bold slip stitch pattern of contrasting squares and all openings are finished with attached I-cord. The collar can be zipped all the way up to form a funnel neck or can be worn open for a more casual look.

Special Stitch Instructions

About slip stitch knitting:

Only one color of yarn is worked on each row. For the first row, knit all the sts in color A and slip purlwise with yarn in back all the sts in color B. For the second row, purl all the sts worked in the previous row and slip purlwise with yarn in front all the sts in slipped in the previous row. Now switch to color B. For the third row, knit all the sts in color B and slip purlwise with yarn in back all the sts in color A. For the fourth row, purl all the sts worked in the previous row and slip purlwise with yarn in front all the sts in slipped in the previous row. Continue working the chart this way, working two rows in each color. The first and last stitch of each row is worked in that row’s color; do not slip the first or last stitch.

Other Notes

Sometimes the row will end in the middle of the chart- that’s ok. Just be sure to work the last stitch of each row. Always work the first and last stitches of each row, do not slip them. When increasing or decreasing, continue to work in pattern.

When binding off on a RS row, carry the non-working yarn up the side of the work.

Slip all stitches purlwise.
